Stock Audi 8V RS3 sedan vs. BMW F87 M2 Competition runs from a stop and roll
The M2 Competition is positioned as the Audi RS3 rival despite the M2 Competition featuring the S55 motor from its big brother F82 M4. This would be akin to the RS3 utilizing the EA839 2.9 twin turbo V6 from the B9 RS4.
Instead, the RS3 gets its own motor and it is the vaunted Audi 2.5 TFSI. The Audi RS3 also has Quattro all wheel drive yet despite having power sent to all four wheels it is lighter than the M2 Competition. Slightly, but still, it is lighter than the RWD BMW.
So what happens between these two in a race from a stop? The RS3 predictably has the traction advantage but the M2 starts to reel it in. Skip to the 2:20 mark to see race.
In the first rolling run the M2 Competition gets a giant jump. They run again and the RS3 gets a better start but the M2 Competition pulls and does so decisively.
The RS3 is obviously a great mod platform but so is the M2 Competition. The S55 and 2.5 TFSI are both beasts but one thing the 2.5 TFSI has going for it is steady development of turbo kits for over a decade and the newest iteration introducing a dual-injection fuel system from the factory.
Quite simply two excellent cars with plenty of tuning headroom.

The video was pretty weak. Terrible job starting on time - I didn’t feel the M2 pulled decisively. They looked pretty even. And roomie mistakes by the Audi driver (eg had air conditioning on). In the end, I think they are super close from a roll with the M2 having a slight advantage, and

Too much talking with poor starts but at least we see independent results.
Honestly, I do. It started to reel in the M2 in the run from a stop despite the Audi getting the better launch telling me it definitely has the straight line advantage from a roll.

F80's are in the 9's. Why not this?

Run 2 roll, the m2 never even got close, it was basically a wash. The MPH of the stock cars shows its basically even and whoever hits the pedel first will win to ~130mph.
No doubt modded M2 comps will be fast, but we all know what the 2.5T is capable of, in the real world.

These are race cars that make that power and it’s complerely useless unless setup for the track.
Lets put any full weight daily driver F-series against a daily driver RS3 on OEM wheels and tires and let’s see what happens.
There is a reason I left the F-series world.
And I will volunteer my car for this....
