Stock E64 BMW M6 6MT vs Modded E60 BMW M5 SMG
so last night a local E60 M5 owner and i met up with our mutual friends to do some fun highway runs (lol i didn't even know we were racing til we met up). unfortunately it was done at night, filmed on phones at crappy angles and different variables so not exactly front page material here
M5 has RPI GT full exhaust, RPI headers, RPI Scoops, ESS tune
first run: it was only me and one friend total weight ~380lbs vs them having like 4 people in the car including one guy weighing ~300 (big boy lol), but i started wrong gear so dead even
second run: same thing but this time i bounced off the rev limiter and forgot to shift, so he pulled on me
3rd run: same weight as 1 and 2, both started right and easy pull for me, til some $#@!face in a Benz E-class tries cutting me off, while he sees us racing.. only thing i could do was cut off my friend in the M5 cause i trusted him more than the Benz driver so potential accident
4th run: same weight as 1 2 and 3, i pull
5th run: big boy got into the car with me and driver weight is now pretty much even, i start wrong gear m5 walks me lol
6th run: even
in terms of 6mt vs SMG, 6mt definitely needs to drive perfectly every time. weight was a HUGE factor as well.
we did more pulls than that and during our best runs, we both came up even. to be honest this surprised the $#@! out of me as i kept going on and on about how he would consistently walk me every time, boy was i wrong. aerodynamics was on my side? idk

I'm starting a go-pro charity.
Interesting though, didn't know it was a 6MT. Considering the car is a convertible that is impressive as it's heavy.BRAND NEW IN BOX 991.2 standard/non-pse SPW cat bypass pipe for sale - $899 shipped
New generic 991.2 PSE bypass pipes - $499 shipped

I got a lil mixed up with amount of people in each car, each run, but realistically with the M5 mods (proper maintained and running car) and having smg (faster shifts+agressive gearing), he should have easily walked you no problem, unless his car isnt running right or he shifting times r off... Good runs non the less, racing is racing and anything can happen..your weight and his mods you should have been lengths behind.. Time for your friend to get an evolve tune, tune up or driver mod

Well i know 1 thing is for sure, the M5 needs a driver mod asap.. First video shows it all, traction control is clearly not off, which means he isnt in the S6 fast shifting mode, you can hear the shifts taken forever, and also he is shifting before redline, one shift was like 7K or 6800 it almost seemed.. lol

Technically speaking, the SMGIII in S6 shifts at 60MS, faster then any human can shift a manual.. Its no DCT but its fast.. I honestly never heard anyone say S6 mode takes forever to shift lol its pretty damn fast and bangs hard.. Seeing that your friend didnt have traction off, in S6 mode to race and redline this engine to get max power, im questioning his knowledge of evening racing a M5, and looks like the reason he didnt put lengths on you as was expected.. I think every M5 SMG owner knows to do exactly this when racing or having fun, its common knowledge. Like i said before, racing is racing, anything can happen, i just think the driver mod is what led to the results here that no1 was expecting..
