AMS Test numbers and comparison between the Audi RS7, Mercedes E63 AMG S 4Matic, and BMW F10 M5 Competition Package

Here are test numbers from German publication AMS for the new Audi RS7, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMS S 4Matic, and the BMW F10 M5 with the Competition Package. Each vehicle represents the highest performance option in the segment available from each respective company. So which is the quickest? The RS7 and the E63 AMG S tie in a 400 meter sprint with an 11.7 elapsed time. It would be nice if AMS went further with their timing than just a tenth but let's call it a draw.

As far as trap speed is concerned, well, AMS did not measure the trap speed at the 400 meter mark so we do not know which car is pulling the hardest. What is interesting is the quickest car to 200 km/h (124 miles per hour) is the E63 AMG S with a 12.2 to the 12.3 run by the BMW and Audi.

The heaviest car is the RS7 at 4424 pounds followed by the E63 AMG S at 4356 pounds and the F10 M5 coming in the lightest (although hardly light) at 4204 pounds. These weights are lower than their USA counterparts likely due to the seats used which do not pass crash test standard in the USA.

Their times are a little off with the M5, although given the time of year, and the fact that the M5 is much harder to launch than the others, I'd say that's to be expected. Still know which one I'd take. And it's not from Ingolstadt or Stuttgart.
