Whats the best way to get into HPDE type events?
I've always wanted to do some track day events, nothing serious. For you experienced guys, what is your suggestion for getting into the scene. I've checked out the HPDE events website for nasa, and i understand alot of guys go through BMW CCA, but just wondered what suggestions some might have in hindsight.
Any feedback is greatly appreciate

Sign up for one and go drive. You'll figure it out and the novice groups are the same across most organizations.

I instruct for several BMW chapters, as well as for NASA. As a gross generalization, I'd say that the BMW chapters are a better place for novice students due to their focus on the instructors' communications skills and their classroom training. On the other hand, you may get a bit more track time with NASA (and it also has a lot of excellent instructors).
In any case, as suggested above, sign-up and get to the track!

Sign up and go, that's how I started. My first event was a NASA event. If you go on your local NASA forum you should be able to find out about driving schools, that's your best bet for breaking in. Learn the proper way of doing things right from the start before you develop bad habits.

I signed up for BMWCCA and I ask the chapter president all the time but they never have any road course / track days

Having gone through BMWCCA events, they are a bit pricier but usually include two track days, lunch/dinner, and 90% of the cars are BMWs.

Great feedback guys, thanks. @boosted-M , that's what I am afraid of here in Jax. I may stick to NASA as they have a Sebring event next month, not to mention the other FL/GA tracks.

Getting out there and learning from an instructor is a great way to get better. You can also do some shifter karting IMO that is the best way to develop and hone your skills. Almost every good pro driver has spent some time in shifter karts. Even if it's just running the slower indoor electric karts it's still a lot of fun especially when you go with a group of friends.

Can't take my indoor cart skills to the track... objective is typically crashing people against the tires in a subtle way as not to get flagged.
