ALMS 2013 - Third place for BMW Motorsport at the Monterrey Grand Prix at Laguna Seca Raceway
A solid showing for BMW Motorsport in what was a hotly contested GT class at the 2013 Monterey Grand Prix at Laguna Seca Raceway. The first five cars in the GT class finished within three seconds of each other. Despite the tight racing the Corvette C6 ZR1 was dominant holding the lead for the final three hours (of a four hour race) and taking the victory. Second place went to the number 17 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR which was then followed by the number 56 BMW Z4 GTE driven by Mueller and Edwards for a second straight podium finish.
Finishing on the podium is certainly good news and shows BMW is in position to challenge the Corvettes once again (especially after the 1-2 victory in Long Beach) for the championship but we have a long season ahead of us. Unfortunately for BMW, the second Z4 did not finish the race due to a broken differential. There will be a bit of a hiatus in the season now as there is a 55 day break until the NorthEast Grand Prix at Lime Rock.

Great race. Not so much for the black Z4 as it was having rear bumper issues before the diff. gave out. Bad news for the Delta Wing also (again) but it's expected.
