Close to production ready Porsche 918 Spyder hybrid supercar photographed at private party - Pictures

Wish this was a party we were invited to. The Porsche 918 Spyder hybrid supercar that we have seen testing over the past year was displayed in close to production form at a private party at Canoe Studios in New York. There was a video posted to Youtube in addition to these photos but it would seem someone at Porsche had the video taken down. We hope somebody managed to snag the video before it was deleted.

Lacks the wow factor that cars in that category have, CGT is more exotic. Still looks great for a Porsche.

I prefer the design of the Carrera GT but this is more modern (as it should be).

I also prefer the Carrera GT as an all around car but times are changing and Porsche is trying to do something different. Great engineering going into this.

I appreciate the effort and the engineering put into this, but i'm not a fan of hybrids. Carrera GT was much more raw. 5.7L V10 instead of 4.6L V8l. It's batteries only send power to light bulbs whereas in 918 they move the car too. Is more than a 100kg lighter than the 918. And had a 6MT while the 918 only is offered by a PDK.

Yes the Carrera GT was more raw but Porsche needs to tie in their hybrid racing technology somehow. So a different approach for now.
