Mercedes takes 2nd and 4th place out of the top 5 spots in the second DTM race of the season

Bruno Spengler conitnued his strong racing for Mercedes finishing in second place after taking the pole in qualifying. Spengler won the first of the season but was not able to hold off Mike Rockenfeller in his Audi. Audi took the 1st, 3rd, and 5th spots with Mercedes taking 2nd and 4th out of the top 5. The next race is in 21 days in Austria.

Race in detail:

Start - Spengler takes the lead from Rockenfeller, Green drops back to third. Albuquerque into the gravel trap at Tarzan, continues, but drops back to last.
Lap 1 - Ekström is already 13th. Van der Zande has gained two places and is ninth.
Lap 2 - Molina drops back to 15th. Spengler is leading from Rockenfeller, Green, Tomczyk, Scheider, Paffett.
Lap 4 - Paffett and Schumacher battle for sixth place.
Lap 6 - Tomczyk keeps the pressure on Green in the battle for third.
Lap 7 - Scheider attacks Tomczyk for fourth and gets part on the Hunserug. Frey hits the wall in the Hugenholtzcorner, but continues.
Lap 11 - First pit stops for Rockenfeller, Mortara, Coulthard, Stoddart.
Lap 12 - Stoddart wins one place from Coulthard coming out of the pits. Van der Zande, Molina, Albuquerque into the pits.
Lap 13 - Spengler, Green, Scheider, Vietoris, Albuquerque into the pits. Albuquerque remains there.
Lap 14 - Tomczyk, Paffett, Schumacher, Jarvis into the pits.
Lap 15 - Tomczyk tangles with Schumacher coming out of the pit lane. Engel, Frey into the pits. Schumacher under investigation.
Lap 16 - Ekström is now leading, but has yet to make his first stop. Rockenfeller is second from Spengler, Green, Scheider.
Lap 19 - Tomczyk overtakes Mortara and is now sixth. No further action against Schumacher.
Lap 20 - Paffett, Stoddart into the pits
Lap 21 - Scheider, Mortara, Schumacher, Coulthard, Vietoris into the pits.
Lap 22 - Spengler, Green, Van der Zande into the pits.
Lap 23 - Spengler comes out of the pits just ahead of Green, they both are still ahead of Scheider. Ekström into the pits for his first stop. Jarvis also into the pits.
Lap 24 - Coulthard gets a drive through penalty for speeding in the pit lane. Rockenfeller into the pits. His stop takes quite long, but he comes out ahead of Spengler. Coulthard comes in for his penalty.
Lap 26 - A slight drizzle sets in at the back of the circuit. Engel, Molina, Frey into the pits
Lap 27 - Tomczyk and Ekstöm are the only two drivers yet to make their second stop. The pit lane window closes at the end of lap 31.
Lap 30 - Tomczyk, Ekström into the pits
Lap 31 - Tomczyk comes out just ahead of Scheider. They go into Tarzan side by side, Tomczyk comes out in front. All drivers having made two stops, Rockenfeller is leading from Spengler, Green, Tomczyk, Scheider, Mortara, Engel and Ekström.
Lap 32 - Jarvis has overtaken Schumacher and is now tenth. Tomczyk keeps the pressure on Green for third place.
Lap 35 - Tomczyk and Green side by side through Tarzan, Tomczyk comes out in front, Green briefly through the sand at Gerlach.
Lap 36 - Ekström attacks Engel for seventh.
Lap 37 - Tomczyk quickly closes up on Spengler.
Lap 41 - Final lap. Rockenfeller wins from Spengler, Tomczyk, Green, Scheider, Mortara, Engel, Ekström, Paffett, Jarvus, Schumacher, Stoddart, Van der Zande, Molina, Vietoris, Coulthard and Frey.

Will be a lot of back and forth but this Bruno Spengler guy seems to be the real deal, number 1 in the driver standings.

Definitely very competitive.... but that's when they're the most fun to follow
