Porsche 992 Carrera S vs. Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang Laguna Seca lap comparison

This is some regurgitated content which MotorTrend is known to do. Still, it is technically a new video and they do an overlay of a Laguna Seca lap between the new 992 Porsche Carrera S and the Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang.

A Mustang and Porsche 911 going at it on the track is not far fetched these days. Depending on the Mustang model, it can come out on top.

What we have here is the GT350 Mustang with its 5.2 liter naturally aspirated V8. The GT350 is more powerful than the Carrera S but heavier. The Carrera S also features a PDK transmission and most its weight in the back. The two turbos also help torque arrive earlier for the much smaller 3.0 liter flat-6.

Laguna Seca is a well known and technical track that rewards skill as well as power.

So who wins? The Carrera S by over a second:

The 992 Carrera S is also chosen as the better driver's car. It is quite simply one of the best sports cars on the market today.

Has anyone seen the rods on a carrera yet? Would be interesting to see how they compare to the turbo. Power levels are getting insane, porsche is doing more with less, would like to see some 700hp+ carreras though as these pony car power levels are getting insane...

There will be minor fitment changes and the intercooler design is different but in essence should be same thing.

GT350 base car vs C2S? Click here to enlarge

At least make it a 350R or a base Carrera...why would it be the base 350 vs an upped spec Carrera?

Especially with the DCT on the Porsche too...come on MT.
