    where do you get that done? Im gonna take mine in as soon as snow clears, but i have not had a good experience with anyone around here yet.

    it sounds like your method does the same thing, just sounds like more work? im curious what the grit guard is though too..

    I've had good luck with autobsessions, http://www.autobsessions.net/ , every year I have them do the full stage 2 wax, where they take all the old wax, bugs, tar, etc off the car, and you can see all the impurities, scratches, etc. Then they do a couple coats and the paint looks brand new. It's a little pricey but the full stg 2 ( or maybe they call it stg3, I can't remember ), lasts a long time. The key though is to use only stuff they recommend when washing so the swirls don't come back. I went out and bought a new bucket, sheep wool MIT and a special drying towel that won't scratch. This is the exact towel, http://www.autogeek.net/guzzler-microfiber-combo.html

    I also bought a large tupper ware container to keep everything in. I keep the MIT and drying towels in separate, sealed zip lock bags ( after they dry of course ) , to keep them from getting any dirt or other crap on them. I buy a new MIT every 4 months or so bc they tend to get tar or other crap stuck in them. Also I wash from top to bottom, washing the whole roof, hood, trunk and sides first, then washing the front, rear, and bottom sides of the car. My theory is the bugs, tar, and tough dirt are all on the front, rear ( station wagon effect ) and low sides and I don't ever touch the hood, roof, or trunk after washing those spots.

    @bobS ,
    cool. living social had a deal with autobsessions a few months ago, stg1 for like 95 that i bought, and i forgot about it, just got reminded the deal is running out, so thats where i planned on trying. but if you say stg 2 or 3, is worth it, i dont mind upgrading. ill pick their brain on things too though. Thanks

    @LostMarine a grit guard allows the dirt to settle at the bottom of the bucket and then prevents the mit from touching the bottom of the bucket. It's just a filter/separator.

    Yea fir me it's worth it, with dark cars like ours it really makes a difference. My paint was pretty bad though from the original owner so maybe urs is better. They also clean the interior real well with what I get. I think I paid like $200 for everything, I forget.
