    Not a clean diesel.

Thought I would share a project I have been working on this year for a client. This is all one off. Basic specs are a om606 turbo diesel engine swapped into a n/a equipped w124 chassis. It has a built 722.6 with standalone tcm from PCS and will be getting a Quaife lsd and larger diff and custom driveshaft. Also a complete 500e body. All factory parts on the body. SLK55 6 pot front and 4 pot rear AMG brakes with custom brackets for the front. Wheels etc....
    Turbo is a B/W 300s. Something big. I think 66mm ind and 8-mm exh with a 1.0a/r.
Bell Intercoolers air/air custom made to our specs and 4" downpipe with twin scroll manifold and of course twin wastegates. Dieselmeken injection pump that is supposed to be able to put out enough fuel for 8-900 hp. We will see. It will also be getting new valve springs from Ferrea to handle the additional boost.
Targets are Hp not Tq. So we are shooting for above the 600whp mark at around 35psi or more.
Hope to have the motor swap done in a Month or two at the most and test drive. Transmission is already done and then to the body shop.

    Very cool. Two questions:

    1. Any guess on the amount of torque? I can only imagine it is in the 4-digits.
    2. Does it have a "cheat mode" ala VW for emissions? Click here to enlarge

Actually we are only planning on making around 550tq. It simply is not going to have enough boost down low in the rpm range to make big torque. If it makes more that is great but it really all depends on how lazy the turbo is.

Nothing big. Just working on the small details. Brackets and such. Should be done with most of it this next week and then we are sending out to powder and ceramic coat stuff. I have other details to work on while that stuff is gone to get ready for the final assembly.

Engine is in and running. Need to get a proper video but there is a lot to sort still. Just a short test last night and the turbo really lights up at around 3k rpm. Main thing is there are no parts or fluids on the ground.

Hooked up the ALDA, boost enrichment, and this thing just lights off. I am just running on the waste gate springs right now and it just shoots straight up to 35-40psi of boost about as fast as you can see the gauge climb. Going to put some better tires on and it is not raining today and see if I can get a little bit of a pull out of it.

Getting things buttoned up and waiting on the boost control and logging equipment. Set the wastegate springs to 20psi and this thing rips. I would say currently it is comfortably in the 400whp/wtq area. I have another valve spring and retainer setup coming in from Ferrea next week and if it works out we will be going to the dyno end of next month hopefully. Then we will get to see what it can really do. We have double the fuel on tap and more than double the boost available.

Getting the D200 with 3d boost control and 6 Channel EGT installed. Hopefully off to the dyno if Ferrea can come through on the valve springs.

Well do not have the dyno sheets to post but will and we are going back after making some adjustments. But it made 600wtq and ran 122mph in the 1/4 spinning the tires a fair bit and of course a terrible like 3s 60 ft. We are going to try a different intake cam with more lift and adjust the timing up and down and see what it will do to the power curve. Trying to get a usable boost trim on the 3d map to make it work per gear. Also going to use some cetane booster to see if that helps with the high rpm fuel burn.

Thanks, we are down for a bit. Spun the balancer on the crank from excessive harmonics. Getting a custom balancer made. So just working on details. Cleaning up things and working on the drivetrain next. Getting a larger differential and lsd with a custom D/S for safety. It will be a few months at least.

Dyno visit. Showing some Nitrous. Or a lot of nitrous on top of 45ish lbs of boost.. Ran it at the track again and the converter is still a little tight to get boost for launch. SO 2.4ish 60' and 12.56 at 124 mph.

Would you mind posting the slip? Impressive trap.

Evidently I fudged those numbers from memory a bit.
