500whp electric motor swap powered E30 BMW is a green beast that runs low 12's
This is the kind of thing that makes us happy. We like to see the different approaches people take to BMW performance from JDM swaps to electric swaps. Purists may not like it, but we love seeing the different things enthusiasts do with their BMW. What we have here is an E30 with a Netgain WarP11 HV series DC motor powered by a couple of Headway cells. The car supposedly runs the 1/4 in 12.1 and there is a vid of it smoking a Tesla to prove it. Did we mention VST Conversions is based out of Croatia? Impressive work our Croatian friends, impressive work indeed.

Damn, that is ingenious! Now only if electric motors made a ferocious roar as they into the 10k+ rpm range...

Much respect fellas!!
The coolest hing about this is that as the tech gets better you can keep your fav bodystyle car around for a long time drive it and be eco friendly.

Electric is really only green if it comes from natural sources. Sorry, but plugging your car into a grid that is super inefficient (at best only 60% of the electricity makes it, rest wasted as heat because of resistance), and is powered by coal burning, which itself is not very efficient, is not helping the environment much vs a modern gasoline or diesel.
I hope to see future homes and commercial buildings generate all their own energy on-site. There is much being done in modern construction and energy saving programs (such as Energy Star) to help bring those energy requirements down as well.
Either way this IS badass, nice to see something different and help prove the potential of electric powered vehicles.

A powerplant is much much more efficient than a car engine. The GE 9H combined cycle natural gas turbine plant can reach 60.2% efficiency, unheard of in car engines. And not all plants burn coal, natural gas is a very clean burning gas, the amount of technology that goes into keeping plant emissions down is much more strict than cars, because they get huge penalties for loss of efficiency. Grid power is better, but still burning $#@! nonetheless.
Some people live long, meaningful lives.
Other people eat shit and die.
I'm not racist, I hate everybody equally; especially fat people.

So why not up nuclear energy? Plug in's would be a reality and not require coal burning...

Do you really want a bunch of nuclear waste with a half-life of a million years buried underneath the ground everywhere?
The real "environmentally friendly" solution is geothermal, wind, solar and hydro power. These technologies improve and become cheaper to manufacture, design and install every day.
