    Clear bra opinions needed

I'm dropping my car off at the body shop for a new front bumper, lip add on, and side skirts. I'm thinking of having a 3m clear bra installed. What do u guys think? Do they yellow overtime? Do they really protect well? I don't like how u can see the edge sometimes...I'd rather just repaint every other year.

    Opinions wanted.....

I looked at it awhile back. I was quoted some crazy prices. Came to the conclusion to save the cash and just use it to respray the front bumper a couple years down the road if needed.

They quoted me around $500-600 depending on what I want done. It's about the price of a respray, that's why I'm thinking of not doing it. If the clear bra looks crappy after two years, what's the point? I could just get it repainted. I tend to repaint my bumper every year ha, a chipped bumper bugs me.

You could also change bumpers for a different look...

Interesting comments, I'm thinking of getting a clear bra on my 1M. I'm having a Gtechniq c1 treatment applied to it in a few weeks and was thinking this might be a good time to also get a clear bra. Now I'm kinda thinking the other way and just get it resprayed if needed....hmmm

Just reading an old thread and wondered what others here have put on their car?

I recently had Xpel Ultimate fitted over the front, bonnet, front quarter panels mirrors etc and am pretty happy with the result. The installers told me they prefer it to the 3M product, although I'm not exactly sure why...

Its not particularly cheap but my 1M's paint work copped a beating and I figured I'd spend that much in a respray on the M3 so I'm going to try and look after it.

Anyway, worth taking a look at it if you are considering a clearbra. I've got no skin in the game here, just a happy customer Click here to enlarge

I bought my 335 with a clear bra so I am not sure of the brand. It has to be at least a few years old and it still looks good with no yellowing. You can see a few small chips on the top side of the hood but not on the bottom so it seems to work great. My friend drives a lot of long highway drives in his 135. He had the front resprayed and it got chipped again within a short time frame.

I love my clear bra it definitely is a necessity in a big city IMO. I'd do any car I cared about protecting the paint, it's cheaper than a repaint and a repaint doesn't always match 100%. Mine is from XPEL and carried a 10yr warranty.

I went with SUntek because the guy from the shop told me it has a better healing property than the Xpel.

Not a huge fan of clear bra's. I can always pick them out, and they are a pain to remove. I much prefer a coating such as modesta, cquartz, opticoat, etc.

I have a 2012 BMW 328i and it is my first Bimmer. I had a Llumar invisible bra put on last month as there are a lot of coal trucks in the area I live. It is totally invisible and they did a great job. I am happy with it and I consider it as protecting my investment.

They charged me $350 and they completely covered the front bumper and headlights as well as the side mirrors. They offered to also cover the hood but I decided against it. I then used the Wolf Gang Paint Sealant on the whole car as well as over the invisible bra. The bugs are very easy to remove and I can already tell the invisible bra has stopped several rock chips. I would highly recommend it.
