Removing the DPF would make it pollute far more, right? So probably best to leave it in, wouldn't it?

It really wouldn't pollute much more. All you're doing is burning the soot up with additional fuel, which adds pollution. (Why burn more fuel than you have too?) You're collecting and burning off the soot that otherwise would just come out of the exhaust. When I owned a TDI, it was kinda funny doing a burnout and having three lines on the ground, one from my exhaust turndown. From what I hear over on the smaller TDI's, the gains in economy and power are greater than 10%.

I'm there with you, man...been looking up and down for one, but it has to be one that matches the tone of the engine. It'd be a shame to drown out the beautiful sound coming from out front.
If you're going to do it right, you sidestep the DPF altogether, but never expect to take the car to the dealer again, and you replace the full exhaust system, front to back.
Offering my car as a possible guinea pig.

So it there any exhaust yet for a USA 2011 335d yet that is reasonable?

Im not sure about the 335d but there is a downpipe made for the 35d x5 with the tune - i may be going this route vs replacing both urea tanks because i have the codes on. $2k for the pipe and tune so its a good investment for solving the issues and gaining 60+hp on top of it with stage 1, 110hp with stage 2.

As long as the tune codes off the DPF regen and adjusts for the lack of back pressure, you should be fine. These are the most important parts of doing what you're talking about, otherwise the ECU will throw fits and you'll get SES left and right.
