Porsche beats Audi at the 2015 Le Mans 24 hours for a record 17th victory with a 1-2 finish - Corvette Racing wins the GTE Pro class

Things went a bit better for Porsche at Le Mans this year compared to their result in their return to challenging for the overall title last year. Audi won yet again in 2014 for their 13th championship which put them on a rapid course to catch up to Porsche with its 16 titles.

Well, make that 17 titles for Porsche now as they increase their lead as the all time overall wins leader at Le Mans. That must be nice to have on the Porsche resume, eh? The 919 Hybrids finished 1-2 in the LMP1 class. Audi took the next two spots with their R18 e-tron and Toyota managed a sixth place finish with their very underrated TS 040 Hybrid.

Corvette Racing won the GTE Pro class in their C7R. This is the first win for Corvette Racing at Le Mans since 2011.

The full results are below. Congratulations to Porsche for providing real competition and breaking Audi's streak. It certainly is interesting that the competition had to come from inside the VW Group.

Congratulations to Corvette Racing as well who has a hell of a race car in the C7R which will be a challenger in the GTE classes for years to come.

Corvette Racing won Le Mans with one car. It isn't easy going over there with your entire program that is based in a US series. Let alone win the race when one car, because the sister car was damaged beyond repair in quali.
