    IATs and Power

    I wanted to know what one considers to be a safe IAT in ambient temps of 90F... if I run my TTS to 145 mph and the IAT tops out at 113-115F is that okay or do I require better ICs.

    I would be interested to hear from anyone like Terry@BMS, ALEX@ABRHouston DZenno etc that has technical and practical expertise in this area as I am reading some 997.1's are hitting 125-130F and higher and not having a dramatic drop off in performance at lower speeds.

    My car ahas stock 996 Turbo ICs, I would be going to ETS or the 997 GT2RS which are both highly rated and have pluses and minuses as to weight/performance/cooling effect.

    I am hitting some great times for stock K24 turbos but have been getting some 1133 codes on occasions (O2 sensor overheat etc)

    I think you definitely want to upgrade the IC's as soon as you can.

    Yeah been throwing a CEL, code 1133 after I thrash it in any heat for over an hour or so, I reset it and it goes away but now had it twice in 2 days

    113-115 doesn't seem that bad for 90 degree ambient temps. The upgraded intercoolers wouldn't hurt though.

    TY, that is what I am trying to find out, what is a DANGEROUS IAT at 85F, 120F, 110F, 100F, 150F, no-one seems to be able to tell me...

    I did some runs early today in 65F temps and got some sick quick times for a K24 996 Turbo, and a measure at 577 rwhp (via PBOX in 4th at 125 mph)

    I've been told anything under 20 degrees above ambient is great, anything over and you start losing power.....

    My SC kit does a phenomenal job of keeping IAT's in check, averaging 8-14 degrees above ambient with normal driving. Start to push the car and they go up but then cool down quickly while driving normal again.

    Please don't take my word for it though, admittedly I'm not a expert on the subject.

    Many cars don't even measure the IATs post intercoolers but rather in the intake tract pre-compressor providing essentially-worthless data, the stock R35 GTR being one of them, so be sure of the data you're reviewing.
