No surprise here. The Model S would most likely pull any BMW from a stop.

I've always been curious how my n54 would do against one of these Tesla's.

I've ran into a model S (not sure if P85) on the highway and it was a joke, absolutely annihilated it. Then again, lets be honest, the N55 really struggles compared to the N54.

yeah i ran a tesla roadster....saw him from afar. i thought it was a lotus.
    5 letters...spaced similar to a lotus...my wife said no....it says tesla. i said no...it has circle taillights
    5 letters.....its a lotus. she was right...it was a tesla roadster.
    it was quick...........for a second.
it was hard to race since i'm waiting for him to hit it....since i didn't hear anything...i just waited till he was ahead of me and hit it.
quick little car. but he got bus lengths put on him from a roll from 85.

Electric torque in action - Tesla Model S P85 vs. bolt on F30 335i N55 drag race

The Tesla Model S is surprisingly quick from a stop. We have seen the car take down some formidable German performance cars including an F10 M5 and a W212 M157 E63 AMG in a drag race. It certainly is not unbeatable as an E63 on the drag strip showed trouncing the Tesla. You will notice a common theme in all Tesla races and that is that they are from a stop and that the shorter they are the more they favor the Tesla.

Top end goes to traditional gasoline motors but what the Tesla Model S shows is that from a stop an electric car is very potent. Just up to a point as the 335i in the video shows giving the 'ricer flyby' at the end. Considering this is a modified 335i with a JB4 tune Tesla shows that not only is strong electric performance possible it is the future.

In P85S trim these are no joke up till almost 100. Above that they start to flatline significantly. But they have enormous torque from 0 RPM so this is what happens. Not sure how much power they actually put to the wheels, I'm sure it's not a crazy amount. But I think it's over 1000 lb ft of torque...even with only 100 hp, that'll get you some decent acceleration up to a point.

It isn't 1000 lb-ft. It's just that the torque is instant and the thing has only 2 gears I think.

The best part about the Tesla S, no independent franchise Dealers to add $ 30,000 in additional mark up when demand far exceeds supply

True and this is why they are having hassles with dealer politics.

Im surprise that that F30 didnt reel it in sooner as it sounded like it went through four gears.

is the reason why the Tesla slows down due to losing juice? from a roll, on a full charge, does it pull as hard? i lile that it has acceleration where it counts in USA roads.

no it's because tesla owners are worse than Prius owners. they all like to challenge people with fast cars on the roads and when we race them they'll launch hard, pull for a few seconds shut it down and act like theyre the bad asses of the road. i bet there are tesla forums with a bunch of kill stories from tesla owners doing this bull$#@! and patting each other on the back.

If you ever read the Tesla forums, there actually are.

Pick on them on the highway and in a race that lasts more than three seconds Click here to enlarge

Let them have their circle jerk.

The Tesla is a cool car. It isn't about to start ruling the highways or the dragstrips.
