911 Turbo vs 918 Spyder Dragrace

Wow. The Turbo is beat handily. The 918 flies.

Makes sense, closer and closer to the top end the 918 will pull away. I'd hope so with all of those extra ponies! Good race nonetheless, too bad no results listed...

Not posted online yet, but C&D tested the 918. Quickest car they've ever tested:

    0-60: 2.2s
    1/4: 9.8s @ 145
    0-100: 4.9s

    That thing is freaky fast.

Lets not forget that only a couple Ultima's have ever beat it around the 'Ring as well, and it is only one of what? 3 or 4 to ever break the 7minute barrier. "Quick, Fast, etc." do not do this car justice. I want to drive one or at least ride in one...badly.

I saw one in person at the Weissach facility a few months back. It was amazing just seeing and hearing it - I can't even fathom driving it.

Porsche 991 Turbo vs Porsche 918 Spyder drag race

This is a bit of a mismatch to say the least. However, these are two Porsche vehicles and the 991 Turbo is used as a performance benchmark against many cars so why not run the new 918 supercar against the 911 Turbo? The 918 Spyder has more power at 887 (608 horsepower gas 295 electric) plus it also has the instant 431 lb-ft of torque provided by the two electric motors. The 911 Turbo with its 520 horsepower 3.8 liter twin turbo flat-6 is a bit overmatched.

Surprisingly, it appears to hang in fairly well showing just how quick of a car the 911 Turbo is. Unfortunately this short drag race by Top Gear does not provide us with any data which they are likely saving for their magazine or TV show. The 918 Spyder has been tested by Car and Driver at 0-60 in 2.2 seconds and through the 1/4 mile at 9.8 @ 145. Car and Driver tested the 991 Turbo S with more power than the standard 991 Turbo to a 10.8 @ 126.

Yes, the 918 Spyder is much faster. It better be for over a million dollars.

    Holy god that was hot.

Those performance numbers from the 918...I can't even wrap my head around that. You'd have a hard time keeping with this thing on an S1000rr
