Please don't talk about price when you're comparing apples and oranges. If I want a muscle car with a pick up truck, plastic interior then I'd get a mustang. The M3/M4 gives refinement, luxury, technology, style and performance in one package. At the end of the day I want more than just numbers on a piece of paper.

I think the '15 5.0 itself will set benchmarks but within its class. I think the GT350 will smash the new M4 in a straight line but again it's apples and oranges. M4 is balanced and has the complete package. Whereas I think the GT350 is one of the best drag cars for the money.

Not sure if you're one to be discussing these things if you can't distinguish between a GT500 and the upcoming GT350. I don't know if the GT350 will 'smash' the M3/M4 in a straight line, but I'm pretty sure they are building it up to be very nasty on a roadcourse. It won't be as nice inside and it probably won't be as fun to drive, but it's definitely far beyond what it used to be, even 5 years ago.

3544lbs for that E92 M3 from MT? I didn't realize how close the weight is between an E92 and an F82 that it could go both ways depending on equipment.
The M3 was never about beating a Mustang, it was about making the car a benchmark for the bottom-rung super-sport sedan class (AMG, S, F, and V). Look back at history, the E36 M3 has been slower than the Mustang Cobra (320hp) of it's time, and ran neck-to-neck with the updated 260HP GT version. The E46 M3 rang neck-to-neck with the 305HP GT version and was crushed by the GT500. The M3 was never meant to be a drag car as it always represented a benchmark in the feeling of subjectivity (feedback, suspension feel/control, sharp responses), never about objective raw numbers.Last edited by spool twice; 07-17-2014 at 07:06 AM.
