Porsche's smaller Panamera junior sedan (or Pajun) is delayed until at least 2019

You may be aware of the fact that Porsche is on a record sales tear in 2014. Porsche sales are up with the Cayenne leading the charge but the new Macan is also adding a considerable bit of volume. With the Macan Porsche slotted a smaller model with a lower price point below the Cayenne and they intended to replicate this model with a smaller Pajun sedan to slot in below the larger and more expensive Panamera sedan.

That is not going to take place soon however as the new Porsche sedan is delayed until at least 2019. The reasoning behind it doesn't make much sense as this report comes from CAR and the way they phrased the reasoning is odd:

The internal plan dubbed Porsche Product Strategy 2018 had mapped out seven different car lines that would have been in place by 2018 - including new sports cars, SUVs and saloons wearing the Porsche badge.

In it, the Pajun was scheduled for launch within the next four years, but the plan is no longer valid. CAR understands that the Volkswagen parent in Wolfsburg needs all the support its Porsche satellite in Stuttgart can summon, so investments in future products have been pared to the bone.

Why the plan is no longer valid is not stated other than Volkswagen seemingly needing more support from Porsche. Additionally, the new 718 Spyder that is supposedly on the way and set to slot in below the Boxster reportedly still has the green light. CAR's phrasing is odd plus Volkswagen is making a ton of cash. They also do not provide any source for this report.

Regardless, do not expect a new smaller and cheaper Porsche sedan soon.

Typical VAG mismanagement. Or they're trying to buy out someone else.
