Lamborghini is building the Urus SUV and it is coming in 2016
Lamborghini's Urus SUV was approved for production last year and the company is getting closer to making the idea of an 'exotic' SUV a reality. Some people may think a modern Lamborghini SUV is ridiculous but let's remind those people that Porsche faced similar concerns with the Cayenne which ended up being a runaway success and likely saving the company.
Lamborghini will produce the highest end SUV in the marketplace as the Urus is expected to be in the $200,000 range. That is a lot of money for a sport utility vehicle. However, Bentley is also planning to enter this elite sphere and with how crazy the US market is about SUV's there no doubt there is a niche ultra-premium segment.
Lamborghini hopefully will make this is a strong performer. There are rumors of a twin turbo V10 engine based on the Gallardo engine but the most likely choice is the Audi 4.0 TFSI V8 which is also shared with Bentley. Will the Urus be worth the money if it does not have its own motor?
The Urus also will also share the generation Cayenne and Q7 platform. Bentley is also expected to share this platform. Will the Urus just be the same thing all the other VW brands are using with different skin and a different badge?
It will be interesting to see what Lamborghini brings to the table. Production will start in Slovakia where Lamborghini is prepping a plant to produce the Urus by 2016.

Cars/suv's these days are so watered down and expensive because of the economic differences. No thanks. They'll spend 50k on top of the Audi it's based on, sell it for more than double the price, just to break even. Sounds like flawed logic to me when in reality you're still driving just an Audi. Premium cars/suv's are premium because they're special. It's like the Rolls Royce phantom or ghost being just a 6 series or something similar to that extent.

in reality you're just driving a volkswagon. vw loves platform sharing. like for example the veyron has the same "gong" as a jetta..
it's not surprising that lamborghini and bentley want to jump on the high end suv market. the new range rover raped that market like the vette raped sports car market, and for good reason. speaking from experience with the sport and the supercharged, those suvs are the $#@!. this will be an interesting competition.
