    My Maserati 425i twin turbo

Love the site so far, would like to show off my ride.
1987 Maserati BiTurbo 425i with mods. 5spd, low miles and 1 of 2 fuel injected models in sedan form with a 5spd in this color.
In March the rusty rockers are being professionally redone. Keep in mind this is a project and is far from a show queen, this has tons of work ahead of it.

I can't say I've ever even seen one of these. I didn't even know they were boosted.

I was about to ask about the rust. Definitely get that taken care of.

Should be fun, are you entered in anything or are they doing an open test-n-tune?

Picking up a Megasquirt next weekend as it supports Oddfire engines.
After Megasquirt I'm busting out dual 255lph pumps and 980 injectors, dual Mitsu 16g turbos and custom Web cams. Valves will be stock on the intake side as they are mismatching sizes and there's not enough meat in the heads to oversize them. I'm going 2mm bigger on exhaust.
Going to build my own headers because $#@! these factory ones are turrible because they were one of the first production turbo cars around and the first TT.
Going T3 housing versus Mitsu for less restrictions in the exhaust.
The 18v head record is 390 I'm going to destroy that. I will have the most powerful BiTurbo in the world it's not a question.
The stock trans capabilities are unknown. Nobody knows, I'll let you know lol. My car has the Ranger diff which is a ferrari built unit fat superior to the Salisbury and Sensitork.
Ground control has done one one off set of coilovers about to be two. This car is already too much for this suspension. Good news is E30 camber kits work for the rear.
This will be a full weight build. I plan to do a shift s3ctor with it just to piss of people with my V8lmao license plates.
This thing as is will run with a oe E9x M3 on the highway and I have basic mods. These are potent but it is all about custom because this is a hugely uncharted platform.
    Stay tuned

I used to have a Maserati Bi-Turbo. What a POS. Most mile were spent going back and forth to the dealer. The final straw with this car was the day I hit a pothole and the dash fell down with 6K miles on the odo.!

When it ran well it was awesome and a huge chick magnet.

Shame to lose the AC. Might as well get rid of the power steering, power windows, etc.

I'm assuming it was an early model? Sounds like my 85 which is nothing like my 87 lol.
    Engine is a 2.5 V6 18v
The seats are super comfy lol.
I'm retaining the power windows and power steering. I want to convert to a manual rack like my 85 but can't because the power steering is part of the timing tensioner and the manual rack cars are prone to timing tensioner failures...

The BiTurbo from 1980-1988 had 3v with a US displacement of 2.5 while overseas was 2.0 and starting in 89 with the BiTurbo 2 they had 2.8l engines still rocking a 3v.
You can fit the 2.24v or Ghibli 2 4v heads by changing the crank cog, pulley and heads along with tensioner which may be a project once I max these out.

Yeah, it was an '84. Mechanically melodic and responsive, visually sharp for the times, but Yugo's had better reliability and durability that this thing.

To this day the pain of extracting this Tic from my life lingers as an automatic initial aversion to most cars made in Italy.
    I probably still need therapy.

I wish you well. I know they improved build quality after '85

Yep build quality was massively higher after 85, as in 86 the only production was spider models which were very well built.

    That car is awsome!
I have three of them, two 425i's, one trackday project and the other as a sparepart donater
and one stock Si from -88 that runs like a dream Click here to enlarge

If you are going for bigger exhaustvalves, look for cylinderheads from the 2.8 liters or 2 liters S or Si, then you dont have to rebuild your current.

I'm very interested in the mods you've made and hope that you could share some tips
