Opened this up expecting a race video between a 625 horsepower 996tt and a Ferrari 360 with twin turbos.

Why pay $8,000 at 14000 miles for a 30000 mile service I say..... very smelly.

This car actually appealed to me more than the F1 transmissioned 575, not as much power but louder with a bolt on exhaust (capristo) and some other mods. The clutch was really good and despite being a GT it seemed lively and sporty

This car also seems to be on offer privately at a similar price and through another dealer for $95k..... Rating 50/100
    Disregard this suggestion.

The 550 is nice but the V12 is not cheap to maintain and the 575 has several updates you want. If anything 575.

Thx I might head up there to take a look... think I have sorted something for a 997 car to mess around with... taking Bobs n Sticky's advice and getting something newer stock that I am going to mess around with tuning wise just to see what I can do and then get larger injectors, downpipes, E85 etc and pro tune.. will post when I have the deal done

There is another car forum that had a LOT of boosted TT 996, some of them beasts and they were getting barely stock price plus 15% of the mod prices or some were asking $60k for 2001-2002 996s that had been abused

    Thx for input....

997 is a great call, fantastic machine. May I aks what model you are looking into? If you wanted to be a true legend, you'd find some way to throw a few pounds of boost at a 4.0 GT3 RS Click here to enlarge

I agree 100%, unless the goal is to go stupid and wind up with whatever, 800AWHP or something crazy like that.

I'm starting to feel that way about several cars that I consider classics/near classics. 996s, Modenas, Maranellos, E46 M3s, E39 M5s, etc etc. They all still look great in their own right, but they lines are seriously dated and no longer exciting to me. Bummer.

Went with a 997 2009 Turbo with the extra torque boost option, manual, low miles but driven a bit and at a good price

In the end I figured that buying something that was already a turbo with some new tuning possibilities (Cobb etc) would let me take things slowly........... everything outside of a Corvette needs big $$$$ to add FI to just to get the performance of an already tuned turbo set up (if that makes sense)..... the plan is to drive this for 2 months as it is, then buy my own hand held tuner and add some race gas then see about E85 etc or even do a Porsche with water/meth injection which from what I am reading has not been done too much....

Plus this way, once I buy an M4 I can trade this plus that and my soul for a 1-3 year used McLaren which hopefully will be around $200k or less Click here to enlarge That way I can tell the missus that I only spent $100k or so on the 12c Click here to enlarge

Thanks all for the help here as I was looking at spending over $50k on a 996 TT already modded UP but the 997's drove a little finer IMHO and the interior is better pour moi

I went with a 2009 (last month I think 997.1, 6MT......) for $70,000 with a few added bonuses like the torque boost, the PCCB (??) and some suspension upgrades... having the brake liners redone and some minor stuff...... next step is a Cobb.. then maybe exhaust and E85 / flex fuel

Will drive her when spring (finally arrives) b4 any mods

Also found a great CHEAP............. I MEAN CHEAP 2004 SL600 Merc I may look at as it is so easy to add boost to an already twin turbo beast V12... probably the best bargain in motorpsorts today

Will add a thread on the Porker
