Formula One - Next Engine Details ("unlimited boost" - however, fuel spray is capped - so 3.5 BAR/44PSI)

Interesting ways to keep boost theorized here, and am curious to see how this holds up (meaning how the engine holds up, and if it keeps fans happy).

Why are they capping the fuel? I mean I guess the power would get out of control if they did it and now there is a premium on fuel management.

One major point, direct injection is used in these motors. That means we are going to see direct injected motors actually racing at a top level of Motorsport.

    I think that's huge.

Edited the OP to include the important graph.

Additionally, moved this to General as it is more of a Motorsport discussion.

The advancement of the KERS for 2014 will play big part in the season. Energy recovery has been taken to a whole new level. Now extra power will be available up to 33 seconds a lap. If you lose KERS during the race, you are screwed. Red Bull always seemed to have problems with the system, but it was always on Webber's car.

    That's a good article.

Please tell me I don't have to start following what technical regulations the FIA publishes.

Sorry, been offline a few days. I think the reason is twofold, one to keep the mileage in check (they have to run with a certain amount of fuel), and the other is a physical fuel flow limit - but that last part, I do not understand. I will dig a bit.

The fact that they feel confident in Direct Injection being the sole fuel source up to 15k is huge. Agree with @Sticky, this is a big step forward for direct injection.
