The first BMW and Toyota project will be... a hybrid LF-A successor?

In January of this year BMW and Toyota announced they intended to collaborate on future powertrains including an emphasis on hybrid technology. This led to speculation as to all the cars BMW and Toyota could possibly produce with rumors swirling of a hybrid Supra successor. It would seem Toyota has loftier goals and wants to enter the elite hybrid performance market that seems to be all the rage with a hybrid LF-A successor.

This car of course would be judged by the standard the Porsche 918 is setting as well as the upcoming Mclaren P1 and Ferrari LaFerrari. Toyota is witnessing what BMW is doing with the i8 so clearly they want to adopt some of that technology.

The LF-A successor may use the current V10 tweaked and supplemented by a hybrid drivetrain or even the BMW S63TU 4.4 liter twin turbo powerplant with electric motors. It sounds exciting either way but Toyota is going to have a higher performance sports car than BMW while using BMW technology to accomplish it? The automotive world just gets more strange with each passing day.

I'd rather see that than another LF-A.

This. Not some $500,000 supercar. Something I could possibly buy one day without having to win the lottery

I'm with you there, always bittersweet when all these badass cars come out, you get to see them, sometimes touch them, sometimes ride them, rarely drive one, but never get to own one...I want to see more sweet cars I can buy lol
