    M5 V10 vs 335i FBO+meth+e85

Had a nice run with a forums member e90 335i..

    E60 M5
RPI GTS Exhaust (stock header and primary cat)
BMC drop in filters w/ rpi air scoops (stock airboxes)
    pump 93 octane
    driver alone

    vs

    E90 335i
    JB4 G5 with BB flash
    WW meth kit
    30% e85 (on 93 octane)
    CPE catless dps
    secondary cat delete
    CPE FMIC
CPE intakes with cyba air scoops
    AA bov and chargepipe
    Carbon fiber hood and trunk
    light weight rims
    1 female passenger

As a ex n54 owner for 6 years via a e92 and fully modded e90 335i as of 11 months ago.. I wanted to see what a relatively stock M5 can do against a fully modded n54.

40-120 was the race.. I got on the throttle a lil late ( listening to my exhaust), race was neck to neck! but at around 115mph i start the walk as you can see in the video but had to shut down because of a lane shift..
Dont mind the other m5 who jumped the race on the third lane..

M5 needs to be maintained right with the spark plugs especially ! kept in high revs and traction control fully off so you can get the car in M6 mode(transmission) ... Looks like you guys had fun sucks i couldnt make it got stuck at work let me know next time you guys go run id love to run for fun.

    Yup, ^ perfectly said!
37K is service interval for plugs, some guys lose timing even earlier, have to def stay on top of maintenance, along with as said, have the car in S6 shifting mode aswell as in P 500 sport. shift at 8250 redline, and you will find the true potential of the V10 SMG M5.

It was a great race for me personally to match up my new and old platform. Terry said logs are good for my friends 335i, and his gas boost gauge was holding good boost as you could see in the video.

Hey man, well meet up again soon! Would def be fun for you to come out next time!

The BMC filters and scoops, honestly hard to tell any difference, there just drop in filters, and the scoops are more for increase amount of air mass, if it helps any.
The exhaust is made up of second cat delete pipes, an x pipe and mufflers. I felt a small butt dyno gain maybe in the top rev range, but its hard to really say again, I got the exhaust more for sound.

Sounds about right, both cars should be trapping around 118-120ish? I would like to see another run with the E90 on E60.

Not sure if that would help him enough, at around 115mph, I would start pulling nicely as you can see in the video aswell. The M5's strong top end is hard overcome. Up until around 115mph we are glued together, after that the M5 begins to pull away.

    Nice run! @5soko

I personally hate 40 rolls and 60 rolls with the SMG gearing. Way too low in the RPM to get our heavy a**es moving. 50 and 70 mph rolls are the money rolls for us. I've lost 60 rolls then won from 70 by good margin on numerous occasions. I try not to start any run under 6k rpm..

When are you getting your Evolve tune?! If your worried about warranty just keep the stock RPM limit and don't ever go past the stock top speed limiter.. I recently had my ECU/DME replaced under warranty and they asked about my excessive over-revs and exceeding the top speed limit on "numerous occasions". They asked "what type of aftermarket tune are you using?" I said I'm not using any tune?? They said "ok" and proceeded with the replacement.

Honestly, I knew 40mph wasn't gonna be ideal, esp since I know from my previous car 335i's make a lot of damn tq, and it was too low in the rpm in 2nd gear for me, but I still went with it. Will def only do 50mph in 2nd gear from now on. Never tried a 70 roll, guessing in 3rd of course?

Im really happy and amazed how well the M5 performed.
As a ex Fully modded 335i owner, I know these cars on meth and E85 are fast! and have a lot of tq! I was amazed on a 40 roll and my M5 out of the powerband was able to not only be dead even but began to walk away around 115mph!!! On a stock tune, stock headers/primarys, and stock airboxs! Really just amazing!

Ive been really urging in getting the evolve tune, everytime I get online lol. Just been trying to enjoy the stock power for as long as possible! Its so hard not to get tuned and makes this thing even faster lol I watch your videos and I get the urge to do it bad.

Good runs! It's amazing how fast the M5s are. Totally a sleeper, even by today's standards.

Evolve tune makes around 20-30whp on a tune. Results at the track will vary.
