    Damn factory wheels are heavy!

I know I'm playing Captain Obvious.

I put my factory 2010 535 xDrive wheels which are 17x7.5 with factory Goodyear 225/50R17 tires back on the car for a trip to the dealer for warranty issues. I figured just for the hell of it I would weigh the combo. Factory wheel/tire combo weighs 52.8lbs!

My M5/M6 replica wheels I removed are 19x8.5 with Conti DWS 245/35R19 tipped the scale at 47lbs. The rims are roughly 25lbs of the total which isn't horrible in my opinion.

It's been said a lot lately but BMW needs to get serious about weight reduction. 5.8lbs per wheel/tire combo is substantial unsprung weight.

I always thought that this information, wheel weight, tire weight should be freely available, but it isn't easy to find.

Go to http://www.wheelweights.net/ and download the wheel weights file for a start.
