DTM 2013 - BMW Motorsport dominates at the Red Bull Ring in Spielburg, Austria with 1-2-3 finish - Full results and manufacturer standings

Nicely done BMW Motorsport. There is no other way to put it, BMW was kicking ass and taking names with a 1-2-3 finish. Bruno Spengler took the victory for BMW and is number one in the driver standings with 53 points followed by Audi's Mike Rockenfeller who has 41 points. Audi managed to get into second place just barely ahead of Mercedes-Benz by 2 points with 67. BMW is way ahead for now with 171 points but there are seven races remaining and as we saw last year anything can happen.

Full race results are below and the next race is in Germany at the Lausitzring on the 16th of this month.

Bruno Spengler (car number 1, BMW Team Schnitzer, 1st): “A one-two-three is simply sensational. That does not happen very often in motor racing. We had one of those weekends, for which you spend your entire life working. However, it was not as easy as it looked. My pace was very good throughout the entire race, but I had to push in the middle of my first stint in order to stay in front. This victory belongs to BMW Team Schnitzer. The strategy, with the late second stop, was the key to the success.”

Jens Marquardt (BMW Motorsport Director): “That is a historic triumph for BMW. It is the first time since our DTM comeback that we have had three BMW drivers on the podium. I am very proud of the entire team. Bruno Spengler produced a flawless display, leading from start to finish to move to the top of the overall standings. The new BMW Team MTEK and its team principal Ernest Knoors also deserves a huge compliment: in only their third DTM race, our young rookie Marco Wittmann and our somewhat older rookie Timo Glock finished second and third to claim their first podiums. You have to take your hat off to that. Everything really came together perfectly today. We must make sure we savour the achievement. We will enjoy today.”
