Manhart Racing tuned "Stage 4" F13 M6 versus a stock Ferrari 458 Italia from a roll

The Mahart Racing tuned M6's and M5's at this event have been causing people to scratch their heads with the results. On one hand, you have a Manhart tuned F10 M5 just annihilate a C63 AMG Black Series and a Manhart tuned F13 M6 crush an MTM tuned V10 twin turbo C6 RS6. All of these Manhart Racing tuned cars have the Manhart Stage 4 S63TU tuning package which consists of an ECU tune, downpipes (with cats), exhaust, and airboxes.

It's interesting that the 458 is able to hold off the M6 here in the first race and win as that is exactly what should happen despite the way the tuned F10 M5 and F13 M6 are being portrayed. This is what happens when the car being raced starts in the correct gear and is ready to go.

Notice the excuses once the race is over, "We had wheelspin in 2nd and 3rd." But not in the other races? The M6 then demands another race and the 458 owner obliges but the M6 starts slightly ahead the second race and closes the gap quicker this time pulling eventually up top. Obviously Manhart was going to do this until they got the result and race they wanted.

These two races are the most accurate so far of those depicting these Manhart Racing Stage 4 packages for the M6 and M6 S63TU V8. The 458 will be the quicker car in the 1/4 mile partially thanks to its weight advantage but in a race well into the triple digits the turbos and horsepower advantage of the M6 will eventually take over if the race goes long enough as seen here. It just takes a while.

The 458 only needs a tune and exhaust, would be great to see a rematch. Video below.

Well, the M6 is clearly much faster since it closes the gap and wins both times, even if the 458 jumps ahead (not willingly - but maybe the starting speed is advantageous for the gearing of the 458). Even with the 400lbs weight handicap. The 458 seems to be much snappier though - probably faster gearbox and better gearing. It's a Ferrari after all Click here to enlarge

But what I hate is how a tuner changes some parameters in the car's ECU and suddenly the car becomes a "Manhart M6" and not "BMW M6 tuned by Manhart".

Stage 4 tune? Back in my day stage 4 usually meant big turbo/s and built motor. What is this stages for the tunes lol. Honestly didn't think the m6 would have done as well as it did, but I guess a tune will make that much of a difference.

You are correct in your assesment of M6 to Manhart M6, they are simply selling their branding. The latter of "BMW M6 tuned by Manhart Racing" is just elegant and is mouthful.

And they need to sell their very expensive wares. Car fast though, but they dont offer any baselines and that would be interesting to see.

Exactly. Hate how European tuners get away with this but a US tuner would be hounded for "proof" and graphs.
