610 wheel horsepower Renntech modified SL65 AMG versus 600 wheel horsepower CTS-V drag race
This was a great race between two cars with a lot of power. The SL65 is said to have a Renntech tune, drag radials, and the Renntech airbox. We would assume race gas well and the dyno numbers are stated to be 610 wheel. The CTS-V is said to be at 600 whp with a KDI street sweeper cam, Works cat-back exhaust, 2.85 upper pulley, 9.55 lower pulley, tune, and on drag radials also of course. The CTS-V rips the SL out of the hole but the SL65 comes on strong barely edging out the Caddy and pulling stronger up top as the trap speed shows. Check out the video below.

The articls states:
"The CTS-V rips the SL out of the hole but the SL65 comes on strong barely edging out the Caddy and pulling stronger up top as the trap speed shows. Check out the video below"
Actually, if you look at the video carefully, you will notice that the CTS had the jump before the SL. Still the SL65 managed to take it over and beat it with a better ET

The 60fts were so close 1.62 vs 1.64 but it seems like the SL has more top end. The weight is about the same IIRC

I think you are mixed up with the SL55. If you check the AMG website, you will find the SL65 weighs alot more than the SL55 and SL63 with a curb weight of 4650 LBS
http://www.fast-autos.com/supercars/...L63amg.phpSL63
SL63: 4300lbs SL65:4650
The reason you are seeing the SL65 overtaking the CTS, knowing that they are making almost the same number of RWHP, is the very high monster torque the Mercedes engine is developing.
Torque wins races my friend

4,222 pounds for the CTS-V and according to this 4480 for the SL65: http://media.caranddriver.com/files/...icle-chart.pdf
So, no confusion on my part. Although I think you are quite confused as to the role of torque in winning races. There is a discussion on it here, I suggest you read it: http://www.benzboost.com/showthread....something-guys
Torque is part of it but that V12 has a stronger top end thanks to the turbos. Also, no dyno sheets are posted for either.
