BC Forged Wheels - Need Advice/Dont Buy
Hey Guys,
I unfortunately purchased a set of BC Forged wheels a few months ago. After waiting for them to be built and delivered, ive had them on the car for a little over a month now. Last week i noticed that the clear coat on the lip of one of the rear wheels is beginning to deteriorate. I contacted the shop where i ordered them to see what could be done and they forwarded pictures i sent to BC. This was the response from BC...
"From our experience, this due to in contact with chemical or animal feces, or salts, dirt, or industrial cleaners...etc. And left there for some times without washing, then it would corrode the clearcoat. From the pictures, its seems the customer haven't been washing the vehicle for some times.
For this situation, its not cover for warranty, as there are many human factors and nature factor that cannot be control.”
A complete and total BS answer. My car is washed weekly with top grade products, in the picture there was a light coating of brake dust. I am still on OEM BMW pads, so after about 2 days my wheels are coated.
The wheels are 2 peice, does anyone have experience with good shops that could refinish the barrel to either a polished or chromed lip? What do you guys think something like this would cost?
Thanks for any help, and sorry for anyone that made the mistake purchasing these cheap wheels like me. I should have just paid the extra 2k for some HRE's.

Cheap wheels, you got what you paid for no offense.
Sucks they won't stand behind their product. They should have at least offered to refinish for a price.

Jacksonville Florida... BC is based out of Taiwan so i dont want to ship anything back to have it refinished, as it would be too expensive. I might just have the lip re-cleared by a local paint shop and sell them.

Thanks for sharing - based on their response alone, I would never consider purchasing wheels from them.

My rule of thumb is not to buy wheels from any company with "forged" in their company name.
The clearcoat should not be anymore fragile than any other clearcoat. Unless you put acid on it, it should not peel. Even animal feces should only etch it, it should not cause it to peel. Brake dust may become bonded, but again, should not cause peeling. How the $#@! is "dirt" or "salt" going to corrode sealed paint? They are full of $#@! unless you mistreated the wheels.
That sucks man. Why not sue them in small claims court?

No worries man, we all made some silly mistakes.
if your thinking about switching wheels. I suggest you go with ADV. they are running a special right now. Go look at the the ADV trakfunction wheels. They are absolutely amazing. Light and still very strong. The 19inch wheels weigh about 22lbs. A friend of mine bought a set for his C63 for $4100.World Fastest (NA) SLS AMG in a Standing 1/2 Mile

Sorena,
my brother wanted a set of the newly track function ADV wheels for his SL63. A dealer that we have here in the Middle East he did not know that they were dangerous fitment for the heavy SL63. @Jacob502 / contacted ADV themselves about the application for his SL63. They replied back within 4 days and informed us that the track function were very light and are not strong enough to handle the SL's weight.
They did recommend another set but he was looking for weight saving. The ones that they provided with the ADV 5.1 concaves which wouldn't save much weight from the stock wheels and they retail for about $7000.World Fastest (NA) SLS AMG in a Standing 1/2 Mile
