McLaren MP4-12C vs. Ferrari 458 Italia, Porsche 911 GT2 RS, Lamborghini Gallardo, Audi R8 V10 and Mercedes SLS AMG .

This is a dream comparison. Car Magazine took the new McLaren MP4-12C out on the road course with Ben Collins (ex-Stig) against some of the best sports cars out there to see which would lap the fastest. The result is somewhat surprising and we will not spoil it for you, watch it. We also want to commnend Car on doing a proper comparison with a VBOX and laptimes unlike some of the other Brits (*cough* Autocar *cough*).

Great video. 458 continues to impress.

Still find the McLaren a little ugly.

I'm really surprised the Ferrari was so much faster. Ron Dennis is going to be pissed.

I'm surprised the Ferrari was so much faster as well.

I thought the McLaren was supposed to crush all these cars?

that video was excellent!! im really surprised the mclaren was that much slower, the conspiracy buffs will run wild with this one lol.... I dont know who would organize this but it would be a great if someone did a test with all the best cars from each company but the group doing the test provides the cars so we know there stock but then here is the curve ball. We would have each companies chief test driver do the numbers for their brand and then have them all rotate just in case one driver isnt good. The test would include all these cars except the hard top lambo sl, the r8 gt, include a zr1, and just for kicks throw in a 2012 gtr just to see how it does

fun video...wish the lambo was the hard top version. Its strange how you dont even have the option to turn off TC on the McLaren, no drifting allowed at all?!!!

Also saw this in automobile mag about the McLaren -

"It will assassinate the quarter mile in a heart-stopping 10.9 seconds, by which time it will be traveling 135 mph on its way to a maximum velocity of 205 mph."

Everyone and their moms think they can challenge the awesomeness of the 458, but they are wrong.

I was shocked you could not disable the TC on the McLaren, wtf?

And yes, too bad for the soft top Lambo although look at how well it still did.

The 458 whooped on everyone yet it had the smallest motor (naturally aspirated)...

I would still take the Porsche GT2 RS over any of them any time. I think it's the most amazing car, considering its still a MT. It would be nice to see how much quicker it would be with a PDK. The 458 is very very impressive though, I just like the rawness of the Pcar better.

The GT2 RS with a PDK would be an unstoppable animal.
