A spreadsheet I made back in 2013 to help people get the hang of TunerPro and Cobb ATR. Generally the things people seem to struggle with, some basic theory/tables, and some 335i specific nonsense.

In this new/final version I tried to update pretty much everything since flash tuning is much more prevalent and more is known. Biggest addition is a tab on boost control and how to dial it in. It could use more work.

Noticeably lacking is information on how to use the boost scaling in MHD I guess, but if you can get through everything else you should be fine figuring out how that works.

Would rep but i have to spread the love around. Thanks for all your hard work!

@V8Bait do you have anything to upload that might be helpful?

I know you want to be careful about what you share and clearly people try to rip you off so I understand any apprehension on your part.

I'm not concerned about that honestly, but with all the camps locking down maps it makes me less enticed to post things. I just want to help the people who want to do it themselves with this, not give away custom or base bins and get a million emails asking if this is safe or this log looks good or which one should i use. Eff that man, I'm busy enough already.

As far as tuning IP goes there's a few tricks that get discovered here and there but generally it's how you integrate the knowledge that matters. Some people do it well, others cut corners or don't have as good of a grasp on the concepts for various reasons (experience, understanding, whatever, I'm still learning too, everybody is who tunes this platform). It doesn't take a rocket scientist but if you're doing it yourself it does take persistence. This car is incredibly forgiving though so my advice is jump in and try, just do it slowly and systematically one thing at a time.

So I just got done datalogging my first flash. I basically took all the timing/fuel/vanos jb4 pump flash values, your linear throttle map, the 335is WGDC values and put it a load target of ~10psi across the board and it took very well. Boost was spot on but was requesting and hitting about 10.9psi peak.

Now I'm trying to setup load by gear, and increased my targets to mimic the jb4 map1 boost curve(14 taper to 11).

Thanks again @V8Bait. After reading this I've been able to understand more tables and the true value that goes into them. Now I just gotta figure out why my requested load ramps up even though I have it set high from about 1700-4000 rpms without load by gear enabled.

Boost limit offset % in the boost control group of tables. Lower the values below 4k rpm some and it raises the boost target, haven't found an ideal yet but 80-90 should get you started. This was Dzenno's recent find.

I can't recall what paper this came from, actually it was only a few and I extrapolated the rest.
With a few more variables (piston speed and air density) you can built a very close, but still theoretical, ignition table.

A few more variables? Like the ones I've been using to model the N54 here?

Wasn't going to post anything since it's more just me screwing around from Saturday, but theoretical models are fun (still no vvt modeling in the calibration along other holes). I especially liked the MBT timing curve it spat out at the bottom.

That looks to be far beyond anything I've personally modeled. I can handle mechanical aspects, static and dynamic. But any further than that I haven't ventured into, tried but takes much more time/knowledge than I have.
The bad part form me is all my work is on a failed HDD that I have not found a program that can recover it yet.

There are data recovery specialists you can send it to if it's necessary.
